Sony's Digital betacam format features Coefficient Recording Technology for digital component recording on 1/2" digital ENG/EFP, post production and transmission. BCT-D represents a new stage of metal videocassette tape excellence in terms of (1) high output, (2) high durability, and (3) long-term compatability. Maximum recording time is 124 minutes in the large cassette, and 40 minutes in the small size
New Binder for high output: Sony's new binder has more anchor segments to efficiently disperse and pack the ultra-fine magnetic particles. A new calendering system creates a smoother tape surface to permit closer head contact. The result is 260mT retentivity and 125 kA/m coercivity for +2dB higher output compared to Betacam SP tape
New lubricant for higher durability: A new Lubricant for BCT-D helps optimize contact between heads and tape, while reducing wear. Together with the new binder, this further enhances durability
Designed for long term capability: Digital Betacam's advanced narrow tracking technology and BCT'D's low shrinkage tape technology promote compatability between tapes and hardware for smooth editing and post-archival playback. An anti-static cassette lid avoids dust attraction, while overlapping case edges shut out dust during storage
